Legal Assistant/ Intake- Consumer Advocacy

National law firm seeks a qualified Legal Assistant with a great work ethic to join its team in the firm's Santa Ana, CA office. We are a full-service law firm that handles a wide range of cases.

 

 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts compliance calls

  • Prepares and sends out welcome packages to new clients

  • Sends out Power of Attorneys to all creditors and Opposing Counsels

  • Assists with any customer services issues via phone and email

  • Call clients for information follow up

  • Handles correspondence from creditors

  • Assists FDCPA manager in regards to Power of Attorney and other case notes

  • Corresponds with creditors in regards to new Power of Attorneys

  • Updates creditor information

  • Follow up with clients for documents and questionnaires

  • Draft documents, including Retainer Agreements, Powers of Attorney, Discovery Shells, Motions for Court Costs, Motions to Compel, Case Management Statements, and Misc. Motions

  • Receive and send documents to opposing counsel and clients

  • Screen for potential violations

  • Follow up with settlement agreements

  • Handle sales calls including intake, sign-up, and follow-up

  • Obtain all relevant information for the attorney on each new sign up, prepare attorney with packet and present packet to attorney

  • Handle of debt defense settlement negotiation and keep attorney up to date with relevant information

  • Work with the Operations Manager to make sure that all hearings have an attorney and all the proper tasks are inputted and the HACA Hearings Calendar is up to date.

  • Handle cancellations of clients including drafting of SOA and/or Motions to Be Relieved as Counsel

  • Maintain the HACA Calendars which include the Pleadings, Discovery and Hearings

  • Initiates the case filings with each case



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or in progress

  • Fluency in Spanish and English (verbal and written)

  • Strong research, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Be organized, detail-oriented, and able to work well under pressure and deadlines

  • Be able to multitask and interact with others professionally

  • Be able to take initiative and work as part of a team

 

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

  • $13.00- $15.00 per hour; DOE
